Life Care Center of Sullivan is located in a small town an hour from St. Louis. The local area is spotted with parks and national forests for a variety of outdoor activities. For a day trip, we suggest:
- Meramec State Park covers more than 450 acres of land along the Meramec River, with caves, walking paths and an aquarium.
- Meramec Caverns, once serving as infamous Jesse James’ hideout, is the largest commercial cave in Missouri, giving guests a glimpse of mineral deposits and underground beauty.
- The Mark Twain National Forest, located in the Ozarks of Missouri, covers 1.5 million acres of land across 26 counties, with 50,000 acres in nearby Crawford County.
- A half-hour drive away, Purina Farms, maker of pet food, provides free admission to its visitors’ center, and hosts dog and cat shows throughout the year, most of which are free to the public.
